Our prediction for this Championship match:
West Bromwich Albion will look to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers when they host Peterborough United to the Hawthorns on Matchday 28. The Baggies are on a four-game winless run in the Championship, but they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course. Defender Semi Ajayi is on international duty, while all Robert Snodgrass, Kean Bryan, and Dara O’Shea miss out with injuries. WBA are a real force to be reckoned with at home, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Saturday’s clash.
January signing Daryl Dike is eager to make his full WBA debut against Peterborough. The Posh, on the other hand, do not seem to be competitive at this level, with the team sitting in the relegation zone. Since Peterborough experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss Coventry City, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. All Randall, Morton, and Marriott are injured for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Callum Robinson):
Born in Northampton, Callum Robinson started his career at Aston Villa. Having gone through the youth ranks with the Villans, Robinson was given his first-team debut in 2013. As a product of the Aston Villa academy, Robinson unfortunately never got a chance to prove his worth at the club and ended up playing no less than 4 league appearances during his three-year stay at Villa Park.
Various loan spells – at Preston North End on two occasions and Bristol City – brought mixed fortunes for the striker up until 2016 when he sealed a permanent move with the Lillywhites. Robinson represented England at U16, U17, U19 and U20 levels but raised plenty of eyebrows when he declared for the Republic of Ireland in March 2018 through his late grandmother who was from Monaghan.
The striker made his senior team breakthrough in Republic of Ireland’s 2-2 draw with Celtic in Scott Brown’s testimonial match and will be hoping to prove doubters wrong and prove his motive is bigger than career opportunism.
Highlighted Team (Peterborough):
Founded in 1934, Peterborough United are a professional club that competes in the League One. The Posh play their home games at London Road Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 15,314. Peterborough’s home colour is blue, whilst the colour of their away kit is blue. The Posh have the third kit as well where yellow and black are the dominant colours.
Peterborough United’s biggest success came in the 1964/1965 when the club booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Chelsea, though, proved to be a big catch for the Posh, beating them 5-1 in London. It has to be noted that Peterborough United made it to the Football League Cup semis in the 1965/1966 season, with the team losing to WBA in the two-legged tie.
The likes of Cambridge United and Northampton Town are considered the club’s main rivals. The Posh have built a rivalry with Huddersfield Town, with fans seeing MK Dons as rivals as well.
