Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Signal Iduna Park will host Tuesday’s Champions League game between Borussia Dortmund and Celtic, the two teams who defeated Club Brugge and Slovan Bratislava respectively in round 1. The Bundesliga outfit aim to give fans yet another reason to celebrate and they must be high on confidence following a come-from-behind triumph over Bochum. A man to watch in the home team will be fit-again summer signing Serhou Guirassy, who scored a brace at the weekend, while all Marcel Sabitzer, Giovanni Reyna, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens remain in the recovery room.
The Hoops, on the other hand, have been scoring goals for fun of late, with the team crushing St Johnstone 6-0 in their last Premiership game. As Celtic are likely to stick to their attacking style of play, over 2.5 goals betting option should be considered, but Guirassy and Co. are closer to picking up all three points from the match than the visitors. USA defender Cameron Carter-Vickers should be the only absentee in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Julian Brandt):
Julian Brandt is one of the most promising wingers in Germany. He started playing football in his hometown, Bremen, at SC Borgfeld, moving to FC Oberneuland, after which he joined VLF Wolfsburg’s youth academy. With 27 goals in his 48 games during two seasons with the Wolves, Brandt recommended himself to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract in January 2014.
The 22-year-old winger prefers to play on the left flank, but he can also provide help on the right side, as well as an attacking midfielder. During the season 2015/2016, Julian Brandt netted goals in six consecutive games, becoming the youngest player since Gerd Muller to achieve this.
The good performances in the season made Joackim Low call the youngster in Germany’s preliminary 27-man squad for the Euro 2016 and he made his first appearance for the senior squad in May 2016, against Slovakia. He was a part of the Germany squad at the Summer Olympics, where Brandt and his teammates won the silver medal. In the summer of 2018, Julian Brandt made the World Cup team.
Highlighted Team (Celtic):
The Celtic Football Club boasts a proud over 100-year long history which has made The Bhoys a global brand thanks to their unprecedented social awareness that dates to the very beginnings of this Scottish club. Celtic was founded in 1887 with the purpose of alleviating poverty in the immigrant Irish population in the East End of Glasgow by raising money to help their fellow citizens.
The charity legacy continues to this day with Celtic still preserving their charitable traditions through the Celtic FC Foundation. The Celts play their home matches at Celtic Park in front of 60,000 people. One of the two most successful football clubs in Scotland with 47 Scottish League Championship titles to their name, Celtic have a long-standing fierce rivalry with Rangers, with the clubs known as the Old Firm.
European Cup winners from season 1966-67 and runners-up two years later, Celtic have been regular in European competitions since their first appearance in 1962-63. Their other most standout results have been runners-up in the EUFA Cup in 2003 and Intercontinental Cup in 1967.
