Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Ibrox Stadium will host Wednesday’s Champions League game between Rangers and Liverpool. The Gers aim to get their revenge on Jurgen Klopp’s troops for the Anfield defeat, but seeing that they have yet to find the net in the process, home win should not be considered. Midfielder James Sands is back from suspension, while Antonio Colak should keep his place up front after scoring a brace in a 4-0 win over St. Mirren at the weekend. All Hagi, Helander, Lawrence, and Souttar should miss out with injuries.
The Reds, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 3-2 loss to Arsenal, and it seems as if they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course. Roberto Firmino is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while both Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold are major doubts. All Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Andy Robertson remain on the sidelines with injuries. Anyhow, Liverpool are more of a team than Rangers, who do not seem to be competitive at this level.
Highlighted Player (Jon McLaughlin):
Jon McLaughlin is a goalkeeper who plays for Sunderland. The 188-cm-tall shoot-stopper played for non-League sides Harrogate Railway Athletic and Harrogate Town in the past, but in 2008 he joined Bradford City. After spending six years at Valley Parade, McLaughlin signed a contract with Burton Albion and he has been playing for the Pirelli Stadium outfit ever since.
Jon McLaughlin made 45 appearances for Burton Albion in both 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons and he has established his self as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. He was producing scintillating displays for Burton in the 2015/2016 League One campaign and, no doubt, he helped the team secure promotion to the Championship.
Jon McLaughlin was born on 9 September, 1987 in Edinburgh, but he has yet to make his debut for the Scotland national team. Speaking of his honours, the goalkeeper won the Football League Two play-offs with Bradford City in the 2012/2013 season.
Highlighted Team (Liverpool):
Founded back in 1892, Liverpool are one of England’s and world’s most famous clubs. The Reds hold a high-profile rivalry with Everton and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds welcome their opponents at Anfield and it has to be noted that they have already won 18 first division trophies. Liverpool were on the verge of lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and left the Reds without a title.
Liverpool won one of their last Champions League trophy's in 2005, with the team coming from three goals behind to beat Milan in a historic clash in Istanbul. The Reds have clinched six European Cups and it is no surprise they are regarded as one of the greatest European clubs.
The likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Paul Ince, Ian Rush, Graeme Souness, Sami Hyypia and Luis Suarez are some of the most notable footballers to have represented the club over the years. The club’s anthem is You’ll Never Walk Alone and their shirt colour is red.
