Our prediction for this Copa del Rey match:
A place in the Spanish Cup quarter-finals will be at stake when Alcoyano and Athletic Club face each other at Estadio El Collao on Thursday evening. Alcoyano aim to continue their giant-killing run in the Copa del Rey as they defeated both Huesca and Real Madrid earlier in the process. It has to be noted that the Segunda Division B side are on a six-game winning run on home soil in all competitions.
The Lions, on the other hand, came from behind to beat Ibiza in the last 32. Athletic Bilbao have always been producing excellent displays in the Spanish Cup, but seeing that new boss Marcelino is going to rest several first-team regulars in Thursday’s clash, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. In their last meeting at Estadio El Collao the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.
Highlighted Player (Dani Garcia):
After spending his youth career at Real Sociedad, Dani Garcia made his senior debut for Alicante B. He made 29 appearances for the first team as well and in 2011 the Spanish midfielder joined Getafe B. Despite being a Real Sociedad player between 2012 and 2014 he spent two years at Eibar on loan, scoring one goal in 79 appearances for the club.
Dani Garcia made his debut in La Liga on 24 August, 2014 in a 1-0 win over his boyhood club Real Sociedad. On 26 June, 2014 he signed a permanent deal with Eibar, which expires in June, 2018. In July, 2015 his market value was €4 million. Dani Garcia has yet to play for the Spain national team, but he made his debut for the Basque Country.
The Eibar footballer plays as a central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well. Dani Garcia was born in Zumarraga, Spain on 24 May, 1990.
Highlighted Team (Athletic Bilbao):
Athletic Club (mostly known as Athletic de Bilbao) is a Spanish football club from the Bask region which is playing currently in the Primera Division. The club from Bilbao is playing in the highest Spanish division since its founded in 1928 and is next to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for a longest period of time in the Primera Division. Athletic de Bilbao used to play until 2012 in the San Mames stadium (also known as La Catedral).
Since 2013 the club is playing in anew stadium. Athletic Bilbao is known for its rivalry with Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid was founded by Bask students in Madrid. The old relationship between both teams is visible in the red blue jerseys of both teams.
The second team Athletic de Bilbao is playing in the Segunda Division B in Spain. Athletic Bilbao won the Primera Division 8 times, the Copa del Rey 24 times, the Spanish super cup 2 times. Athletic de Bilbao didn’t won any prizes in Europe yet but managed to be the runner up in 1977 and 2012 in the UEFA cup.
