Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
After failing to win the previous 14 league fixtures, Angers will look to give fans some cheer when they take on Nantes in the Coupe de France last 16. Les Scoistes played out a goalless draw with Lorient, but, as things stand now, that is unlikely to help them avoid relegation to Ligue 2 at the end of the season. The good news for the hosts is that important defender Souleyman Doumbia is back from suspension.
Les Canaris, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Ajaccio. Nantes quickly bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Marseille, and given Angers’ dreadful winless run, we predict that the visitors are going to advance to the French Cup quarter-finals. Ludovic Blas is pushing for a start, whilst both Merlin and Pallois remain on the sidelines with injuries, speaking of the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Alban Lafont):
Alban Lafont is a French goalkeeper who plays for Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Lafont joined AS Lattoise youth school at the age of nine and he stayed at the academy until 2014 when he moved to Toulouse.
The 193-cm-tall goalkeeper has established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at Toulouse and it has to be noted that he made 36 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. Due to his dual citizenship, Alban Lafont is eligible to represent both Burkina Faso and France on international stage, but he has yet to play for the African team.
Alban Lafont represented les Tricolores at youth level and, no doubt, there is a bright future ahead of the talented shoot-stopper who was born on January 23, 1999. The rising star has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Angers):
French Football Federation was founded in 1919, with French football club Angers being founded the same year. Les Scoistes returned to the French top flight at the end of the 2014/2015 season and they finished the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign in ninth place in the standings.
Angers were having their ups and downs in the 2016/2017 season and, as a result, they finished 12th. Les Scoistes are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst the color of their away kits is white. Stade Raymond Kopa is the team’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 17.835.
The venues was opened back in 1912 and the stadium’s record attendance is 22.989 (April 26, 1969 vs. Olympique Marseille). Speaking of the club’s most notable players, we have to mention Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Vladica Kovacevic, Claudiu Keseru, Paul Alo’o, Amar Rouai and Cedric Daury. It has to be noted that the 2017/2018 season will be their 24th in the French top flight.
