Rochdale
Turf Moor will host Tuesday’s football game between Burnley and Rochdale. Burnley made a slow start to the new Premier League campaign, and we are positive that they will give 100% to return to winning ways. Since the Clarets will not have a better chance than this to get back on course, home win should be considered. All Cornet, Vydra, and Rodriguez are pushing for a start, while the likes of Long, Roberts, and Stephens are out of contention with injuries.
The Dale, on the other hand, played out a 1-1 draw with Mansfield in their last League Two game. Rochdale, though, will have a much bigger fish to fry against Burnley, who are desperate to give fans something to cheer about. This will be the first meeting between the two sides since December 1993 when Burnley defeated Rochdale 4-1.
Highlighted Player (Pontus Jansson):
Sweden international defender Pontus Jansson started his career at a local club Arlovs Bl before moving to Swedish giants Malmo in 2006. Three years later the talented centre-back was given his first-team debut, off the back of a highly successful season which saw his pick up a prestigious Academy Player of the Year award.
During his five-year stay with Malmo Jansson went on to play 98 league matches, score 6 goals and impose himself as a commanding presence for his club. A ball-playing central defender who likes to keep things clean and simple, Jansson boasts impressive composure and never backs under pressure. The Swedish defender was plucked by the Serie A side Torino in 2014 where he failed to make his big international break.
Three years into his stay in Italy – and a season-long loan at Leeds United after – Pontus Jansson moved to Elland Road on permanent basis. His work-rate, great positioning and impressive physicall ability made him one of the hottest properties in the summer of 2018 with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and other Premier League sides expressing interest in high services, but Jansson opted to remain at Leeds and work under Marcelo Bielsa.

Nicknamed the Dale, Rochdale are a professional English club that compete in the League One (English third tier). Rochdale were founded back in 1907, after World War I, with the team beating Accrington Stanley 6-3 in their first league game 14 years later.
The Dale wear blue shirts with black stripes and blue shorts when playing at home, whilst gray is the dominant colour of their away kit. Spotland Stadium is the club’s home ground, with the venue holding no more than 10,249 spectators. Bury and Oldham Athletic are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, but they have built up rivalries with the likes of Halifax Town, Burnley, Stockport County, Wigan Athletic and Accrington Stanley as well.
Back in 1962 Rochdale made it to the Football League Cup final, with the team facing Norwich City in the title game. The Canaries proved to be a big catch for the Dale, but this is still considered the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the Spotland Stadium outfit have three Lancashire Cup titles as well (1948/1949, 1970/1971, 2004/2005).
