Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:
Manchester United take on Burnley in the EFL Cup last 16 in their first game after the World Cup break. The Red Devils aim to build on a 2-1 win over Fulham, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for the Old Trafford outfit. This match comes too early for Raphael Varane, who played for France against Argentina in the World Cup final, while all Bruno Fernandes, Sancho, Casemiro, Antony, Fred, Shaw, Maguire, and Eriksen are back to contention.
There are no injury worries in the home team. The Clarets, on the other hand, are fully focused on the Championship as they aim to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League. Since Manchester United are eager to win a trophy in the 2022/2023 season, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. Defender Connor Roberts is banned for the visitors following his sending off in a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough.
Highlighted Player (Christian Eriksen):
Christian Eriksen born on 14th of February 1992 is a Danish football who plays as a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur. Eriksen played in the youth of Odense BK and Ajax Amsterdam where he got picked up by Tottenham Hotspur after 3 seasons.
On 29th of August Eriksen got transferred for 13 million euro and is one of the most expensive Danish football players of all time. Christian Eriksen made his debut in March 2010 for the Danish national team and was the youngest player during the World Cup in 2010.
So far Eriksen played for over 200 club games for Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur. Eriksen is known for his great passing skills and game overview. In his career Eriksen managed to become national champion with Ajax 3 times and won several individual prices for being one of the most talented player of the moment.
Highlighted Team (Burnley):
Burnley were one of the founding members of the Football League back in 1888. The Clarets did remarkably well to win the FA Cup trophy back in 1914 and the club owners have been trying to bring glory days back to Turf Moor ever since.
Burnley defeated Liverpool in the 1913/1914 FA Cup final and, no doubt, this is regarded as the greatest achievement in the club’s history. The Clarets finished the 2015/2016 Championship campaign in top position in the standings and, as a result, they will participate in the English Premier League in the 2016/2017 season.
Burnley play their home games at Turf Moor and the capacity of the stadium is 21,401. The Clarets have won two Community Shield trophies so far, in 1960 and 1973, but they have yet to clinch the Premier League title. Claret is the dominant colour of the team’s home shirts.
