Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Second position in Group H will be at stake when Monaco and Trabzonspor face each other at Stade Louis II on Thursday evening. Monaco kicked off their Europa League campaign with a hard-fought, and somewhat undeserved, victory over Crvena Zvezda, but they failed to impress in a shocking loss to Ferencvaros. The Ligue 1 outfit aim to get back on course as soon as possible, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach against Trabzon.
A man to watch in the home team will be Wissam Ben Yedder, who scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Nantes, while both Aguilar and Geubbels should miss out with injuries. The Turks proved their worth in a 2-1 win over Crvena Zvezda, but they will have a mountain to climb in the Stade Louis II showdown. Given Monaco’s display in the crushing of Nantes, home win should definitely be considered. All Visca, Tokoz, Peres, and Asan are likely to miss out with injuries for the away side.
Highlighted Player (Thomas Didillon):
Thomas Didillon joined Metz football academy at the age of 11 and he spent no less than six years at the club. The 193-cm-tall goalkeeper made his debut for the Metz first team on May 16, 2014 in a goalless draw with Stade Lavallois and he made 27 appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 Ligue 2 campaign.
Didillon managed to keep 13 clean sheets for the club during the season and, no doubt, he helped Metz secure promotion to the French top flight. The French shoot-stopper played 32 games for les Grenats in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign and he kept nine clean sheets, while conceding 64 goals in the process.
During the 2014/2015 season Thomas Didillon played for Belgium side RFC Seraing on loan and, speaking of his international career, the goalkeeper represented France U16, U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams in the past. Didillon was born in Seclin (France) on November 28, 1995 and his preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Trabzonspor):
Founded on August 2, 1967, Trabzonspor are a Turkish club that compete in the Super Lig. The Karadeniz Firtinasi welcome their rivals at Medical Park Stadyumu, the venue which can hold up to 38,477 people. Trabzonspor were the dominant force in the Turkish top flight from 1975 to 1984, with the team clinching six domestic titles during that period.
The Turkish outfit booked their place in European competitions for the first time in the 1976/77, while making it to the Champions League group stages in the 2011/2012 season. Trabzonspor are well known for their claret and blue kits. After their foundation in 1967 English club Aston Villa sent a set of kits to Trabzonspor, which is the main reason why the two clubs wear the same colours.
Daniel Sturridge is the team’s most notable player. The former Liverpool man, who won the Champions League title with the Premier League side, joined the club in the summer of 2019 as a free agent.
