Our prediction for this FA Cup match:
Chelsea will be aiming to book their spot in the FA Cup round 4 when they welcome Preston to their Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The Blues have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating the likes of Crystal Palace and Luton Town in the last two league matches and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Striker Nicolas Jackson is on international duty, while the FA Cup clash comes too early for defender Ben Chilwell.
The Lilywhites, on the other hand, failed to impress in back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the Premier League side this time out. As for the away team, Robert Brady continues to miss out with injury. In their last meeting in the FA Cup Chelsea defeated Preston 2-0 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself.
Highlighted Player (Alan Browne):
Alan Browne is a Republic of Ireland international who plays for Preston North End as a central midfielder. Born in Cork on April 15, 1999, Browne began his youth career at Ringmahon Rangers, but he soon moved to his hometown club Cork City.
Despite being part of the Cork City senior team, he did not enjoy first-team football with the Rebel Army. On January 1, 2014 Alan Browne signed a deal with Preston North End in the League One and one year later he helped the Lilywhites beat Preston in the play-off final and secure promotion to the Championship.
The 179-cm-tall midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at Preston and it has to be noted that he played for the Ireland national team in the past as well. Alan Browne made his Republic of Ireland debut on February 6, 2017 in a friendly game against Mexico.
Highlighted Team (Chelsea):
Over the years Chelsea have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in the English Premier League. Roberto Di Matteo helped the team win their first ever Champions League trophy (2011/2012), but it has to be noted that they were more than fortunate to beat Bayern Munich in the title game.
Chelsea have been playing at Stamford Bridge since 1876 and they are a real force to be reckoned with at home. The Blues have won seven FA Cups, five League Cups, two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups and the UEFA Europa League. Rafael Benitez was in charge of the team that faced Benfica in the 2012/2013 Europa League final, with Branislav Ivanovic scoring the winner for the Blues in the title clash.
After lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, the Blues largely struggled in the next campaign, which saw Jose Mourinho’s second spell with the club come to an end, and Antoine Conte went over to take the reigns for the 2016/2017 season.
