Our prediction for this FA Cup match:
A spot in the FA Cup round 4 will be at stake when Forest Green and Birmingham City face each other at The New Lawn on Tuesday evening. The Green Army do not seem to be at the top of their game, with the team suffering four defeats in the previous five league fixtures, but they should not be written off just yet. Both Regan Hendry and Amadou Bakayoko are widely expected to return to Forest Green’s starting XI.
The Blues, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a 4-2 loss to Bristol City. Birmingham City are on a four-match losing run in the Championship, and given their shaky defence, we do not believe that they are capable of beating the League One side on the road. Taking everything into account, the share of spoils is on the cards. As for the away team, both Harlee Dean and Przemyslaw Placheta are sidelined with injuries, while Hannibal Mejbri is pushing for a start.
Highlighted Player (Dominic Bernard):
After spending his youth career at Tredworth Tigers and Birmingham City, Dom Bernard signed a professional deal with the Blues. However, he did not see any game action with Birmingham City at the senior level as he was instantly sent on loan at Aldershot Town.
After making 35 appearances for the Shots in the league, Dom Bernard joined Forest Green in the summer of 2019. He made his debut with the Green Army against Oldham Athletic on the opening day of the 2019/2020 season. Bernard, who quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Forest Green, has one cap with the Republic of Ireland U18 team while making two appearances with the U17 team.
He was born in Gloucester, England on March 29, 1997, and he wears the number 3 shirt at Forest Green. His main position is right back, but he is capable of producing fine performances as a centre-back as well.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
