Our prediction for this match:
Following a 1-0 loss to Malta, Azerbaijan will be aiming to record their first win since June 2021 when they take on Latvia on Tuesday evening. The Azeri failed to impress in the last friendly, but we do not believe that they will have a better opportunity than this to return to winning ways. Both Huseynov and Akhmedzade are pushing for a start, with Isaev and Makhmudov likely to drop to the bench.
The Latvians, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Kuwait. Dainis Kazakevics’ troops are not regarded as good travelers, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Azerbaijan’s party in Ta’Qali. Latvia midfielder Eduards Emsis, who limped off with injury against Kuwait, is unlikely to feature against Azerbaijan, with fellow midfielder Aleksejs Saveljevs stepping up.
