Our prediction for this match:
France and Ivory Coast go head to head at Stade Velodrome in what is expected to be an interesting international friendly. Les Tricolores have big ambitions for the 2022 World Cup finals, and, no doubt, boss Didier Deschamps will use warm-up games to test as many players as possible. Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema misses Friday’s clash with injury, while Kurt Zouma has been left out of the squad due to a “sporting decision”.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, N’Golo Kante, and Antoine Griezmann all made the cut. The Elephants, on the other hand, failed to impress at the 2022 AFCON, with the team suffering elimination in the last 16 of the tournament. Considering that France are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we do not believe that the underdogs are capable of claiming a major scalp. A man to watch in the away team will be Ajax attacker Sebastien Haller, but Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha should pose a big threat to the opposition back-line as well.
Highlighted Player (Kylian Mbappé):
Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.
In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.
Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.
Highlighted Team (Ivory Coast):
Over the years Ivory Coast have established themselves as one of the best African teams. The Elephants won their second Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2015, with the team beating Ghana in the final of the tournament. Ivory Coast defeated the Black Stars on penalties and it has to be noted that goalkeeper Boubacar Barry scored the winner.
A number of high-profile footballers played (or play) for the Ivory Coast national team, but, no doubt, the most notable players are Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, Salomon Kalou and Gervinho. Ivory Coast are well known for their orange kit, but they play their away games in green shirts and green shorts. Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny is regarded as the team’s home stadium.
Didier Zokora is the player with the most caps for the Ivory Coast national team (123), while aforementioned attacker Didier Drogba is the team’s top scorer (65 goals). Drogba is the symbol of the Ivory Coast football and the former Chelsea man played for the national team from 2002 to 2014.
