Our prediction for this match:
Lyon and Wolfsburg go head to head at Groupama Stadium in a highly-anticipated friendly game. Les Gones kicked off their preseason with a routine 5-1 win over Bourg-en-Bresse, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against Wolfsburg. The Ligue 1 outfit look sharp in front of goal, and we are positive that they will find the net in Saturday’s friendly. Moussa Dembele, who scored a brace in the triumph over Bourg en Bresse, will be one of the men to keep an eye on in the home team.
The Wolves, on the other hand, impressed in the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign, with the team booking their place in the Champions League. Given Wolfsburg’s attacking potential, we believe that punters from all four corners of the world can find value in betting on over 2.5 goals. When the two teams met in a friendly three years ago Olympique Lyon recorded a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg.
Highlighted Player (Karl Toko-Ekambi):
Karl Toko Ekambi is a professional footballer who plays for Ligue 1 club Angers as a striker. Ekambi was born in Paris on September 14 1992, but he does not represent les Tricolores on the international stage. The 183-cm-tall attacker plays for Cameroon and it has to be noted that he made his senior debut for les Lions Indomptables in a 3-2 win over Burkina Faso back in June, 2015.
Ekambi came as a substitute in the 77th minute of the match, replacing fellow attacker Mengolo. The Cameroonian footballer played for Paris FC during his youth career and he made his first-team debut for the capital club on April 26, 2011 in a 2-2 draw with Beauvais. Karl Toko Ekambi scored 21 goals in 66 appearances for Paris from 2010 to 2014 and at the end of the 2013/2014 season he joined Sochaux.
After netting 25 goals in 72 appearances for the club, in the summer of 2016 Ekambi signed a contract with Angers which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Wolfsburg):
Wolfsburg are a German football club founded in the aftermath of the World War II (1945). Die Wolfe (The Wolves) wear green and white shirts and they play their home games at Volkswagen Arena. The capacity of the stadium is 30,000 and it was opened on 13 December, 2002.
It is well known that German car manufacturer Volkswagen are the club’s main sponsors. Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga trophy in 2009 and the likes of Edin Dzeko, Grafite and Zvjezdan Misimovic were part of the club’s golden generation.
You should bear in mind that Grafite and Dzeko scored 54 goals between each other in the 2008/2009 Bundesliga campaign and that the team clinched the trophy thanks to a 5-1 win over Werder Bremen on 23 May, 2009. Die Wolfe won the German Cup trophy in 2015, with the team beating star-studded Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the title game. Wolfsburg are a team that has no bitter rivals in German football.
