Our prediction for this League 1 match:
University of Bolton Stadium will host Monday’s football game between Bolton and Accrington, the two mid-table sides. The Trotters aim to build on a 2-1 win over Doncaster, and they surely want to finish the season in style. Keep in mind, though, that Bolton’s injury list is long with the likes of Santos, Lee, Afolayan, Dempsey, Sheehan, and Isgrove missing the Accrington clash with different reasons.
The Accy Stanley missed out on a place in the playoffs as well, meaning that they have little to play for in Monday’s encounter. Since Bolton produced a fine display in the last league match, we predict that the visitors will return home empty-handed. As for the visiting side, Harry Pell is out of contention with injury, but he should be the only absentee in the away side.
Highlighted Player (Gethin Jones):
Born in Perth, Australia on October 13, 1995, Gethin Jones is a professional footballer who plays for Carlisle United in the League Two as a defender. Jones is a product of the Wrexham football school, but he played for Everton at youth level as well.
The pacey right-back made only one appearance for the Toffees as he played against Krasnodar in the Europa League 2013/2014 season. Gethin Jones played for the likes of Plymouth Argyle (loan), Barnsley (loan), Fleetwood Town, and Mansfield Town (loan) as well before joining his current club Carlisle United. Jones is eligible to play for Australia and Wales despite playing for the Wales U17, U19, and U21 teams in the past.
He made his League Two debut with Carlisle United in a 3-2 win over Stevenage on September 14, 2019. Jones’ main position is right-back, but he is used as both right midfielder and left-back as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
