Our prediction for this League 1 match:
There will be fireworks when Charlton Athletic and Derby County square off against each other at the Valley on Matchday 2. The Red Robins played out a 2-2 draw with Accrington in the opening match of the season, with Scott Fraser opening his goal-scoring account. Teenager Miles Leaburn, who got his name on the scoresheet at the weekend as well, is pushing for a start, while Chuks Aneke is a major doubt, and he will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
The Rams, on the other hand, were relegated to the League One at the end of the last season due to the 20-point deduction, and, no doubt, they are eyeing a quick return to the Championship. Derby proved their worth in a hard-fought 1-0 win over Oxford, and given Charlton’s shaky defence, away triumph should be considered. New boss Liam Rosenior has no fresh injury worries.
Highlighted Player (Jake Forster-Caskey ):
Born in Southend-on-Sea, England on April 25, 1994 Jake Forster-Caskey is a midfielder who plays for Charlton Athletic in the League One. Forster-Caskey started his both youth and senior careers at Brighton & Hove Albion and it has to be noted that he scored five goals in 67 league appearances for the Seagulls first team.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan at the likes of Oxford United, Milton Keynes Dons and Rotherham United, the English footballer signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Charlton Athletic in the winter of 2017. Jake quickly established himself as a first-team regular at the capital club, scoring 5 goals in 43 appearances in the 2017/2018 League One campaign.
However, he was out of contention for most of the 2018/2019 season with a serious knee injury. His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and left midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Derby):
Derby County is one of the 12 founder members of the Football League. However, nowadays the Rams compete in the Championship and they play their home matches at Pride Park Stadium. Derby County have won the two trophies in the English top flight (1971/1972, 1974/1975), with the team lifting the FA Cup trophy just after the World War II (1946).
Derby’s main rivals are Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Leeds United, but the rivalry between Forest and Derby is regarded as the biggest one.
The two teams take on each other in the East Midlands derby. The colour of Derby’s shirts is white, whilst their shorts are black. It has to be noted that the club was founded in 1884 by William Morley. The Rams competed in the European competitions four times, but they did not record a notable result in the European Cups. The club’s chairman is Mel Morris.
