Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Doncaster and Sunderland face each other at Keepmoat Stadium on day 24 of the new League One campaign. The Donny desperately needed a win against Shrewsbury, and they managed to get one thanks to Joseph Olowu’s goal. Doncaster were not in action at the weekend, meaning that tired legs are unlikely to prove to be a big problem for the home team. The Black Cats, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.
Sunderland are one of the teams to beat in the League One, but given Doncaster’s display in the triumph over Shrewsbury, we are tempted to put our money on draw. Sunderland full-back Denver Hume has overcome his injury, while both Dennis Cirkin and Corry Evans are rated doubtful for the visiting team. Luke O’Nien and Aiden McGeady remain on the sidelines with long-term injuries.
Highlighted Player (Tom Anderson):
Known for his heading and no-nonsense defending, the 1.92 m tall center back, is an English footballer who plays for Doncaster Rovers in the third tier of English Football. Anderson was born in Burnley, on the 2nd of September, 1993. He joined Burnley's youth academy at the age of seven and went on to sign his first professional contract with the club in May 2012. The club then sent him out on loan to Conference Premier Club Barrow, where he made his first professional appearance on the 11th of August,2011, in a 0-0 draw against Telford United.
A further string of loans to Conference clubs Hyde, Halifax, and Lincoln City, League Two club Carlisle and League One club Chesterfield, succeeded his time at Harrow. On the 31st of January, 2018, Anderson joined his current club Doncaster Rovers initially on a year's loan before signing a two-year contract with the club in May.
This permanent switch ended his 18 years-long relationship with parent club Burnley during which, he never once made an appearance for the senior team. On the International front, the 26-year-old has never represented his country at any level.
Highlighted Team (Sunderland):
Sunderland are a professional football club that have been playing their home games at the Stadium of Light since 1997. The capacity of the stadium is 49,000, but before expansion the original ground capacity was 42,000. Red and White shirts are Sunderland’s trademark and the club’s fiercest rivals are Newcastle United. The two local rivals have been contesting in the Tyne-Wear derby since 1898 and there have always been fireworks in what is one of the greatest derbies in English football. Sunderland were on the verge of dropping to the Championship in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but experienced tactician Sam Allardyce eventually helped the team avoid relegation.
The Black Cats have won six First Division trophies (now the Premier League), with the team lifting two FA Cup titles. Sunderland won their first FA Cup trophy in 1937, with the team beating Preston North End 3-1 in the title game. The club was founded in 1879 as Sunderland and District Teachers A.F.C.
