Our prediction for this League 1 match:
The Mazuma Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Morecambe and Ipswich Town, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2022/2023 League One season. The Shrimps are stuck at the bottom with only one win on their account, and it has to be noted that they experienced all sorts of problems at the back in back-to-back losses to Cambridge United (1-2) and Accrington Stanley (1-3).
The rock-bottom side are desperate to grab something from Saturday’s game, but given Ipswich Town’s current form, home win should not be considered. To make things even worse for the home side, forward Arthur Gnahoua is banned for the match. The Tractor Boys, on the other hand, have a chance to overtake Plymouth in top position, and we predict that they will take advantage of Morecambe’s shaky defence. Both John-Jules and Edwards are pushing for a start after the duo helped Ipswich beat Cambridge United 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
Highlighted Player (Anthony O\\\'Connor):
Born in Cork, the Republic of Ireland on October 25, 1992, Anthony O’Connor is a professional footballer who plays for Bradford City as a defender. His primary position is a centre-back, but he is used as both right-back and defensive midfielder as well.
The Irish footballer is a product of the Blackburn Rovers football academy, but he did not see any game action with the Riversiders at senior level. After ending his loan spells with the likes of Burton Albion, Torquay United, and Plymouth Argyle, Anthony O’Connor signed a permanent deal with the Pilgrims in 2015. At the end of the 2014/2015 season, O’Connor returned to Burton, signing a two-year contract with the Brewers.
In the summer of 2016, he moved to Scotland Premier League club Aberdeen where he scored five goals in 61 league appearances. In June 2018 he joined League Two side Bradford City. It has to be noted that Anthony O’Connor has eight caps with the Republic of Ireland U21 team.
Highlighted Team (Ipswich):
Ipswich Town are an English football club that was formed in 1878. Portman Road has been the home ground of Ipswich Town since 1894 and the capacity of the venue, which was expanded in 2002, is 30,311. The Tractor Boys compete in the Championship, but they used to play in the English Premier League in the past as well. Ipswich Town last appeared in the elite division in the 2001/2002 season.
Ipswich won the FA Cup in 1978, with the team beating Arsenal (1-0) in the title game. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1981 when they outplayed AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup final. It has to be noted that the Tractor Boys have yet to suffer a loss at home ground in the European competitions.
Norwich City are regarded as Ipswich Town’s bitterest rivals and it is well known that the two sides take on each other in the East Anglian derby.
