Our prediction for this League 1 match:
After dropping two points in a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday will look to return to winning ways in League One when they take on Burton Albion in the League One round 17. The Owls are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures, but they need to start winning on a regular basis if they are to secure a top-two finish. All Akin Famewo, Dennis Adeniran, and Reece James are out of contention with injuries for the home team.
The Brewers, on the other hand, dropped to the relegation zone following a 2-1 loss at Bolton. Since Burton have already suffered five defeats on the road this season, we predict that they are going to return home empty-handed from the trip to the “Steal City”. Experienced defender John Brayford, who limped off with injury in the midweek defeat, is unlikely to feature against the Owls.
Highlighted Player (Reece James):
Reece James is a talented Chelsea defender who plays for Wigan Athletic on loan. Born in Redbridge, England on December 8, 1999, James started his youth career at Chelsea football academy at the age of 6. The talented teenager played for England U18 and U19 teams and he currently represents the U20 team on the international stage.
Reece James scored 3 goals in 45 appearances for Wigan in the 2018/2019 Championship campaign, but that did not help the Latics avoid relegation to the League One. His numbers from the 2018/2019 season are impressive as he completed 91 successful tackles, 54 blocks, 44 successful dribbles and 93 clearances.
James, on the other hand, has yet to find the net for the England U20 national team. His main position is right back, but he is capable of playing as both centre-back and defensive midfielder as well. Reece James turned professional in March 2017.
Highlighted Team (Burton):
Burton Albion are one of the four clubs that secure promotion to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 campaign. The Brewers welcome their rivals at Pirelli Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2005. The capacity of the stadium is 6,912, while the seating capacity of the venue is 2,034.
Burton Albion won the FA Trophy in 1987, with the team winning Football League Two in 2015. During the club’s non-League period, the Brewers’ local rivals were Nuneaton Borough, Tamworth, Stafford Rangers and Gresley Rovers, but while they were playing in the Football League the club’s rivals were Crewe, Port Vale, Notts County and Chesterfield.
Derby County are considered Burton Albion’s rivals as well, but the rivalry with the Rams is rather friendly. The colour of Burton Albion’s home kit is black and yellow, while they wear white and grey jerseys on the travels.
