Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Barrow aim to build on back-to-back wins over Bradford City and Stockport County when they face Salford City on Tuesday evening. The Bluebirds are eyeing their third consecutive clean sheet, and you should know that under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of their last five league matches. Pete Wild should have a full squad to choose from for the midweek clash.
The Lions, on the other hand, impressed in a 5-2 win over Mansfield Town, with the team climbing to the playoffs berth. Salford City are eager to stay in top six, but seeing that Barrow are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing more than one point from Tuesday’s clash. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team, with Matthew Lund likely to keep his place in the starting XI after scoring a brace at the weekend.
Highlighted Player (Conor McAleny):
Conor McAleny is a product of Everton youth academy, joining the club from Merseyside in 2003 at the age of 11. Despite the fact that his main position is centre-forward, McAleny is used as both second striker and left winger as well. McAleny did spend his youth career at Goodison Park, but it has to be noted that he made no more than two appearances for the Toffees at senior level.
The English attacker, who was born in Whiston on August 12, 1992, made his first-team debut in a 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal on December, 2011. Conor McAleny played for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Oxford United before signing a deal with Fleetwood Town.
The right-footed striker spent the second half of the 2018/2019 season on loan at Kilmarnock, scoring 3 goals in 11 appearances for the club in the Scottish Premier League.
Highlighted Team (Barrow):
Founded back in 1901, Barrow is an English club that competes in the League two, the fourth tier of the English football system. The Bluebirds are well known for their blue shirts with white details, but yellow is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Barrow play home games at Holker Street, the stadium which can hold up to 5,045 spectators.
The venue was opened in 1909, and it has to be noted that no fewer than 16,874 people attended the FA Cup match between Barrow and Swansea in January, 1954. The Bluebirds have won two FA Trophies (1989/90, 2009/10), with the team lifting the Lancashire Senior Cup trophy in the 1954/55.
The likes of James Bell, Jim Collins, Andy McLaren, Jimmy Mulholland, Jackie Robertson, Barry Diamond, and George King are the most notable footballers who played for Barrow in the past. It has to be noted that the Bluebirds have never competed in the English top flight.
