Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Gillingham and Colchester go head to head at Priestfield Stadium in a festive fixture. Gillingham head into Monday’s relegation six-pointer following a 3-0 loss to Salford City, but they will not have a better chance than this to record their only third win of the process. There are no fresh selection worries in the home team, but Lewis Walker could sneak into the starting XI for the first time since round 17.
The U’s, on the other hand, aim to make amends for back-to-back losses to Mansfield and Sutton. Colchester are desperate to escape the relegation zone, but given their poor away record (0-1-10), we predict that the hosts are going to emerge triumphant in the Boxing Day match. Speaking of the visiting team, midfielder Ossama Ashley misses out through suspension following his sending off in a 1-0 defeat to Sutton, while experienced midfielder Cole Skuse remains on the sidelines with a knee injury.
