Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win at Scunthorpe United, Grimsby Town will be looking to climb to the top half of the League Two table when they face Carlisle United. Ian Holloway’s men quickly bounced back from back-to-back losses to the likes of Northampton and Plymouth, but, as things stand now, they will find it hard to secure a top-seven finish. Carlisle United, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a massive 3-0 defeat to Colchester United.
Even though important defender Byron Webster returns from suspension for the visitors, away win should not be considered as Grimsby Town regained a much-need confidence at the weekend. In their last meeting at Blundell Park Grimsby Town recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Carlisle United, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts.
This game is postponed.
Highlighted Player (Sebastian Ring):
Sebastian Ring is a professional footballer who was born in Orebro, Sweden, on April 18, 1995. The talented left-back played for the likes of Adolfsbergs IK and Orebro SK during his youth career, and he continued playing for Orebro SK at senior level.
After spending the 2013/2014 season on loan at BK Forward, Sebastian Ring joined Grimsby Town on a permanent basis in 2019. The Swedish footballer, who wears the number 3 jersey at Grimsby, made his debut with the Mariners in the League two on January 22, 2019, in a 3-0 loss to Forest Green Rovers. Despite being a central midfielder originally, his primary position at Grimsby Town is left-back.
The Swedish player, whose preferred foot is left, is used as a centre-back as well. His contract with the Mariners expires on June 30, 2020. It has to be noted that his older brother Jonathan Ring is a football player, as well.
Highlighted Team (Carlisle):
Founded in May 1904, Carlisle United are a professional football club that have one of the biggest stadiums in the League 2. Brunton Park is the club’s home ground, and it can hold up to 18,202 spectators. When playing at Brunton Park Carlisle United footballers wear blue shirts and blue shorts, while their away kit is sky blue.
The Cumbrians maintain a rivalry with Workington And Barrow, but it has to be noted that the two clubs have not met in the Football League since the 1970s. Carlisle United won their first Football League Trophy in the 1996/97 season, with the team beating Colchester United 4-3 on penalties.
The Cumbrians repeated the success 14 years later (2010/11) as they defeated Brentford 1-0, thanks to Peter Michael Murphy’s goal. Carlisle United recorded their biggest win against Hartlepool United (8-0) on September 1, 1928, with the team suffering their heaviest defeat to Hull City (1-11) on January 14, 1939.
