Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Stade du Mustoir will host Sunday’s football game between Lorient and Lille, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table. Lorient’s main goal is to secure the Ligue 1 survival, while Lille want their title dream to be continued. Les Merlus have been in a fine form of late, and they were on the verge of spoiling Monaco’s party at Stade Louis II in their last league match.
Since Lorient are on a three-game winning run at home ground, we predict that they are going to find the net in Sunday’s showdown. The league leaders failed to turn their dominance in possession into goals in a draw with Brest, but given Lorient’s shaky defence, both teams to score betting option should be considered. Keep in mind, though, that Lille attacker Burak Yilmaz remains on the sidelines with injury.
Highlighted Player (Thomas Monconduit):
Thomas Monconduit is a product of Auxerre football academy. The midfielder made a great progress during his spell with the Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps outfit and continued playing for the club at senior level. Monconduit scored three goals in 63 appearances for Auxerre II and he played 42 games for the first team from 2012 to 2014.
In 2015 he joined Amiens and you should bear in mind that the 178-cm-tall midfielder made 36 appearances for les Licornes in the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign. Amiens finished the season in second place in the standings and, as a result, they secured promotion to the French top flight. Thomas Monconduit scored three goals during the season and, no doubt, he played a very important role in Christophe Pelissier’s team in the 2016/2017 season.
His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well. Thomas Monconduit has a contract with Amiens which expires on June 30, 2018 and his preferred foot is right. Louis DENOLLE is the player’s agent.
Highlighted Team (Lille):
Lille have been playing an important role in French football ever since they were founded in 1944. Les Dogues won their first domestic trophy in the 1945/1946 season.
Lille did well to win their second Ligue 1 title in 1954 and 57 years later they lifted their last domestic title. Les Douges finished the 2010/2011 season in top position in the standings, eight points clear of second-placed Olympique Marseille and it has to be noted that Lille attacker Moussa Sow won the Golden Boot (25 goals).
Lille are one of the two teams that managed to win three consecutive Coupe de France trophies (1946, 1947, 1948), but they have yet to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue title. Les Dogues faced PSG in the 2015/2016 Coupe de la Ligue trophy, but les Parisiens proved to be a big catch for Frederic Antonetti’s team in the title game.
Lille play their home matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and the capacity of the stadium is 50.186. The venue was opened in August, 2017 and the construction cost €282 million.
