Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After holding Monaco to a 1-1 draw at Stade Louis II, Strasbourg will look to return to winning ways in the Ligue 1 when they take on Bordeaux on Wednesday. Le Racing have been showing signs of improvement of late, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to win the midweek clash. Even though both Maxime Le Marchand and Lebo Mothiba remain in the treatment room, home win should be considered as Strasbourg have been in a fine form in November.
Les Girondins, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-1 loss to Brest. Bordeaux are on a three-game winless run in the national championship, and given their shaky defence, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of spoiling Strasbourg’s party at Stade de la Meinau. All Abddel Medioub, Laurent Koscielny, and Paul Baysse are injured for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Kenny Lala):
Born on the 3rd of October, 1991, Kenny Lala is a professional footballer who plays for Strasbourg. Lala started his youth career with local amateur club ES Parisienne and spent four years developing with the club before being recruited by Paris FC in 2008.
Two years later, the French left-back signed his first professional contract with PFC and made his senior debut on the 14th of September, 2010, in a league game against Strasbourg Alsace. The following season, Lala joined Valenciennes and made his Ligue 1 one debut on the 6th of November, 2011, featuring in the club's 1-1 draw with Stade Rennais.
Following successful spells at the Athenians and then at RC Lens, the 28 years old signed for Strasbourg in 2017 on a contract that that is set to expire in 2021. On the International front, Lala has never represented France at any youth level and is yet to get called-up to its senior team.
Highlighted Team (Bordeaux):
Founded in 1881, Bordeaux are regarded as one of the oldest clubs in France. Les Girondins won their first Ligue 1 trophy in 1950 and 59 years later (2008/2009) they lifted their sixth domestic trophy.
Speaking of the club’s European success, Bordeaux did remarkably well to make it to the Champions League semi-finals in 1985, but despite recording a 2-0 win over star-studded Juventus in the return leg, the French club eventually failed to book their place in the final of the elite competition.
Famous French footballers Alain Giresse and Jean Tigana were part of the team back then and it has to be noted that Giresse is the player who made the most appearances for les Girondins (587). During the nineties Zinedine Zidane, Christophe Dugarry and Bixente Lizarazu played for Bordeaux and, taking everything into account, it is no surprise they are considered one of the most famous French clubs.
Nowadays Les Girondins welcome their rivals at Matmut Atlantique, the stadium which was opened in 2015 and they used to play at Stade Chaban-Delmas in the past.
