Our prediction for this MLS match:
Atlanta United will be looking to clinch second position in the standings when they host New England at their Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Five Stripes shared the spoils with Montreal Impact at the weekend, but despite dropping two points in the Stade Saputo clash, they remained in second place in the Eastern Conference.
Atlanta United are a real force to be reckoned with at home and seeing that New England have already booked their place in the play-offs, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on Frank de Boer’s troops. Josef Martinez, who has netted 26 goals in 28 appearances, is enjoying yet another season to remember and we predict that the 26-year-old is going to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. In previous two meetings between the two clubs Atlanta United emerged triumphant.
Highlighted Player (Gonzalo Martínez):
Born in Guaymallen, Mendoza, Argentina on June 13, 1993, Gonzalo Martinez is an Argentine footballer who plays for River Plate. The 170-cm tall midfielder began his youth career at Huracan in 2011 and he continued playing for Quemeros at senior level. The Argentine footballer joined River Plate in January 2015 and he has been playing for los Millonarios ever since.
Gonzalo Martinez made his debut for River on February 16, 2015 against Club Atletico. Speaking of his international career, the River Plate midfielder made his Argentina debut on September 8, 2018 in a 3-0 win over Guatemala. It has to be noted that he scored from the penalty on his international debut.
In 2018 he won Copa Libertadores with los Millionarios, who defeated their bitter local rivals Boca Juniors in the final of the competition. Gonzalo Martinez wears No. 10 jersey and his main position is left winger.
Highlighted Team (New England Revolution):
Unlike famous NFL club New England Patriots, the Revolution have yet to win the domestic trophy. New England participated five times in the MLS Cup final, but they were more than fortunate not to lift the silverware. The Revs played their last final in 2014, with the team losing to LA Galaxy in the title game at StubHub Center. New England Revolution, though, clinched the North American SuperLiga trophy in 2008 and that is considered as the club’s biggest success.
It has to be noted that the Revs defeated Houston Dynamo on penalties in the final of the tournament. New England Revolution were founded in 1994 and Gillette Stadium is the home ground of the club. Legendary defender Alexi Lalas played for the Revolution (1996-1997) and he scored three goals for the Gillette Stadium outfit. Fellow USA ace Clint Dempsey was part of the team as well and you should know that he netted 25 goals in 71 league appearances for the club.
