Our prediction for this MLS match:
Buoyed by back-to-back wins over Los Angeles Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes, Colorado Rapids will be looking to retain their spot in top eight when they take on Los Angeles FC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids impressed in the 5-0 win over San Jose, but Los Angeles are likely to pose a much bigger threat for the hosts than their previous rivals. The visitors proved their worth in a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake, and they are surely capable of making life difficult for the Rapids.
Even though influential attacker Carlos Vela remains in the recovery room, share of spoils is on the cards. In Vela’s absence, experienced attacker Bradley Wright-Phillips will lead the line for the visitors. Anyhow, a close encounter is on the horizon at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The likes of Blackmon and Traore are sidelined with injury for the visitors as well, while Ford, Jackson, and Namil remain in the recovery room for the home team.
Highlighted Player (Tim Howard):
Tim Howard is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of USA national football team. Howard is well known for his spell with English giants Manchester United. The experienced shoot-stopper played for the Red Devils from 2003 to 2007 and he spent the 2006/2007 season on loan at Everton.
At the end of the season he signed a permanent deal with the Goodison Park outfit and it has to be noted that he made no less than 354 league appearances for the Toffees. During the 2011/2012 Premier League campaign he scored his first and only goal for Everton as he found the net in a 2-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers. Thanks to the goal against Bolton he became the fourth goalkeeper to score a Premier League game.
In 2016 he decided to return to USA, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Colorado Rapids. Howard conceded 20 goals in 19 appearances for the Rapids in the 2016 MLS season and he managed to keep eight clean sheets. It is well known that the USA goalkeeper won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Yanks.
Highlighted Team (Los Angeles FC):
Seeing that Los Angeles FC will be competing in Major League Soccer from the 2018 season, the club chiefs did well to reinforce the squad. Several high-profile players joined the club in the winter of 2018, with Mexican ace Carlos Vela being the biggest name to sign a deal with LAFC.
The new expansion team will host their rivals at Banc of California, the stadium which is planned to be opened on April 29, 2018. The venue should hold up to 22,000 spectators. Speaking of their bitterest rivals, there will be fireworks when Los Angeles FC face LA Galaxy in the Major League Soccer.
