Our prediction for this MLS match:
Messi-less Inter Miami will be aiming to put an end to their eight-game winless run in MLS when they take on Columbus Crew at DRV PNK Stadium. The Herons dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Austin and they face yet another difficult task against Columbus Crew. All Ryan Sailor, Jean Mota, and Gregore should miss out with injuries, while Argentina superstar Leo Messi has yet to join the club.
The Crew, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Nashville and New York Red Bulls. Columbus, though, have already suffered five defeats on the road this season, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on draw. Midfielder Williams Sands has yet to overcome a knee problem, but he should be the only absentee in the away team in the midweek fixture.
Highlighted Player (Kieran Gibbs):
Kieran Gibbs is a professional footballer who plays as a left-back for the English National team and Championship club West Bromwich Albion. Born in London on the 26th of September, 1989, Gibbs's football journey began at the Wimbledon Academy in 2001. Three years later, he joined Premier League giants Arsenal and regularly featured for their reserve team.
His performances earned him his first professional contract, which he signed in September 2007. Gibbs then made his professional debut for the Gunners a month later, in a 3-0 away win over Sheffield in the League Cup. Barring his six-month loan stint at Norwich in 2008, the Left-back spent most of his decade long career at Arsenal playing for the club, making over 200 appearances in all competitions.
At the start of the 17/18 season, Gibbs left Arsenal to join West Brom on a four-year deal worth 6.5 million pounds and has since made 79 appearances for the club. His career honors include winning the 13/14 and 14/15 editions of the FA cup and 2014 and 2015 Community Shield. The 30-year-old additionally has capped ten times for England, making his debut in a friendly against Hungary on the 11th of August, 2010.
Highlighted Team (Columbus Crew):
Columbus Crew are an American soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Black & Gold participate in the Eastern Conference and in 2008 they won both the conference and the MLS CUP final. Columbus Crew defeated New York Red Bulls in the MLS Cup final, with the likes of Moreno, Marshall and Hejduk scoring for the Black & Gold in the title game.
The club welcome their rivals at Mapfre Stadium, the venue which was opened on May, 15 1999. The current capacity of the stadium is 19.968 and it has to be noted that Mapfre Stadium is the first soccer-specific venue ever built for a MLS club.
A number of high-profile players were part of Columbus Crew in the past, but Guillermo Barros Schelotto is the most famous footballer that wore the black and yellow shirt. Schelotto played for Columbus Crew from 2007 to 2010 and during his spell with the Mapfre Stadium outfit the Black & Gold won the aforementioned MLS Cup.
