Colorado Rapids
Los Angeles FC will look to make a flying start to the new MLS campaign when they take on Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Los Angeles FC surprisingly missed out on a place in the playoffs last season, and, no doubt, they are determined to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign. Both Eddie Segura and Kwadwo Opoku miss the season opener with injuries, while experienced attacker Carlos Vela should lead the line for the hosts.
Former Sporting Kansas City midfielder Ilie is likely to make his Los Angeles debut against Colorado. The Rapids, on the other hand, head into the match following a shocking loss to Comunicaciones in the CONCACAF Champions League double-header. Considering that Los Angeles FC are a real force to be reckoned with at home, the underdogs are unlikely to grab something from the season opener. Colorado boss Robin Fraser should have a full squad to choose from.

Over the years Carlos Vela has established himself as one of best Mexican players. Vela was born in Cancun, Mexico, on March 1, 1989 and he played for Guadalajara before joining Arsenal youth school in 2005. The pacey left-footed winger played only 29 games for the Gunners in the Premier League before signing a deal with Real Sociedad.
Carlos Vela played for the likes of Celta Vigo, Salamanca, Osasuna and WBA on loan as well before joining the Basque outfit. Nowadays, the Mexican forward is a Los Angeles FC player and it has to be noted that he scored 14 goals in 29 appearances for the club in the 2018 MLS Season. He is naturally gifted player, quick, intelligent and with very good technique.
Carlos Vela did well to win two CONCACAF Gold Cups with Mexico national football team (2009, 2015) and he was named Real Sociedad player of the year in the 2011/2012 and the 2013/2014 seasons. His main position is right winger, but he is used as a second striker and a centre-forward as well.

Colorado Rapids is a Major League Soccer club and they compete in the USA professional soccer league as a member of the Western Conference. Colorado began their play in MLS back in 1996 and 14 years later they managed to win the MLS Cup trophy. The Rapids recorded a 2-1 win over FC Dallas in the final of the tournament, with George John scoring the winner for Gary Smith’s team in the extra time. Colorado made it to the MLS Cup final in 1997 as well, but D.C. United proved to be a big catch for the club in the title game.
The Rapids play their home games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and the venue has been Colorado’s home ground since 2007. It has to be noted that the likes of Tim Howard, Carlos Valderama, Claudio Lopez and Jermaine Jones were all part of the club in the past. Colorado’s colors are red, sky blue and white, but they were yellow shirts and blue shorts when playing on the travels.
