Our prediction for this MLS match:
Los Angeles Galaxy will be aiming to overtake Real Salt Lake in top position when the two teams lock horns at Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday morning. LA Galaxy are eyeing their third consecutive win at home ground and they are seen as favourites to pick up all three points from the match. Midfielder Riqui Puig is back from suspension, while Serbia forward Dejan Joveljic remains on the sidelines with a thigh problem.
The Royals, meanwhile, are on a three-game winning run in MLS. Real Salt Lake are determined to retain first place in Western Conference, but beating LA Galaxy on the road is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. Defender Brayan Vera is banned for the visiting team, while all Bryan Oviedo, Matt Crooks, Erik Holt, Marcelo Silva, Pablo Ruiz, and Kevin Bonilla miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Martin Caceres):
Martin Caceres is a widely travelled and well known Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Juventus. Primarily a central defender, Caceres is known for his tenacity, pace, strength, tackling and aerial ability. He is versatile and can operate as full-back on either sides too. Caceres started his career at Defensor Sporting and became a regular at a very young age.
In 2007, he went to Spanish side Villarreal but never officially appeared for them. He then was snapped up by Barcelona in 2008 for a reported transfer fee of € 16.5 million. But his only season at the Camp Nou was marred with injuries and moved to Juventus in 2012 via a short stop at Sevilla.
Caceres made his full senior team debut in 2007 and was a successful member of the team that won the 2011 Copa America. He also played at the 2014 World Cup and has 68 national caps to his credit.
Highlighted Team (Real Salt Lake):
Real Salt Lake joined Major League Soccer in 2005 as an expansion team of the league and four years later they won their first MLS Cup. The Royals faced star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game at Qwest Field in Seattle and Jason Kreis’ troops defeated David Beckham and Co. on penalties.
In 2013 Real Salt Lake made it to the MLS Cup final for the second time in the club’s history, but they were beaten by Sporting Kansas City on penalties this time out. The Royals participated in the CONCACAF Champions League final in 2011 as well, but Monterrey of Mexico eventually won the title. Real Salt Lake footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is white.
The likes of Clint Mathis, Jeff Cunningham and Eddie Pope are some of the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Jeff Cunningham scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Royals.
