Our prediction for this MLS match:
New York City and Charlotte go head to head at Yankee Stadium in the closing match of the midweek program. The Blue Pigeons did well to beat CF Montreal thanks to Matias Pellegrini’s goal, with the team regaining a much-needed confidence and a win over Charlotte could see them climb to the playoffs berth. Thiago Martins continues to miss out with a knee injury, while fellow midfielder James Sands is on international duty.
The visitors, on the other hand, failed to win the previous five league matches. Considering that Christian Lattanzio’s men are not regarded as good travellers, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts, who have been showing signs of improvement of late. The good news for the away side is that experienced defender Nathan Byrne is back from suspension, while both Hamady Diop and Adilson Malanda are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Alfredo Morales):
Alfredo Morales is an American football player who was born in Berlin on 12 May, 1990. The USA midfielder moved to Germany as a boy and he played for the likes of BSC Reinickendorf 21, Borussia Pankow, FC Concordia Wilhelmsruh and Hertha BSC during his youth career.
Morales played 81 games for Hertha II at senior level, scoring 11 league goals for the capital club. He made 20 appearances for the first team as well, but in 2013 he joined Ingolstadt on a two-year deal. Alfredo Morales was eligible to play for both Germany and USA, but he decided to represent the Yanks on the international level.
The 183-cm-tall midfielder made his USA debut on 29 January, 2013 against Canada. He came as a substitute 15 minutes before the final whistle. It has to be noted that Morales represented United States of America at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both centre back and a defensive midfielder.
Highlighted Team (New York City):
New York City are an American soccer club and they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2015. The Pigeons play their home games at Yankee Stadium and they are the second club in New York after the New York Red Bulls.
Famous Arsenal player Patrick Vieira took over the reins in January, 2016 and he helped the team finish the season in second place in the Eastern Conference. However, they were totally outclassed by Toronto FC (0-7 on aggregate) in the conference semifinals.
New York City chiefs have been pumping up a lot of money into the squad ever since the team began play in MLS and it has to be noted that the likes of Andrea Pirlo and David Villa played for the Pigeons in the 2016 season. New York City footballers wear sky blue shirts when playing at home, while the colour of the team’s away kit is dark blue.
Companies City Football Group (80%) and Yankee Global Enterprises own the club.
