Our prediction for this MLS match:
New York City restart their MLS campaign with a game against Minnesota United at their Yankee Stadium. The Blue Pigeons are four points behind the playoffs berth and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Monday’s clash. Defender Brian Cufre is back from suspension, while there are no fresh injury worries in the home team.
The Loons, on the other hand, suffered an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Nashville in their last League Cup game, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. Both Robin Lod and Ryen Jiba are out of contention with injuries, when it comes to the visiting side, but Franco Fragapane has overcome his injury. As always, a man to watch in the visiting team will be former Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki, who opened his goalscoring account in a thrilling League Cup win (4-3) over Columbus Crew.
Highlighted Player (Alfredo Morales):
Alfredo Morales is an American football player who was born in Berlin on 12 May, 1990. The USA midfielder moved to Germany as a boy and he played for the likes of BSC Reinickendorf 21, Borussia Pankow, FC Concordia Wilhelmsruh and Hertha BSC during his youth career.
Morales played 81 games for Hertha II at senior level, scoring 11 league goals for the capital club. He made 20 appearances for the first team as well, but in 2013 he joined Ingolstadt on a two-year deal. Alfredo Morales was eligible to play for both Germany and USA, but he decided to represent the Yanks on the international level.
The 183-cm-tall midfielder made his USA debut on 29 January, 2013 against Canada. He came as a substitute 15 minutes before the final whistle. It has to be noted that Morales represented United States of America at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both centre back and a defensive midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Minnesota United):
Based in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, Minnesota United are a professional soccer club that will compete in the Western Conference in the Major League Soccer from 2017. The Loons will make their MLS debut against Portland Timbers on March 4, 2017 and, no doubt, they have big ambitions for the forthcoming season.
Minnesota United are the sixth team to join MLS from a lower division and they will welcome their rivals at TCF Bank Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 52.525 and it was opened in September, 2009. Bill McGuire is the club’s owner and he is on a quest to turn Minnesota United into a top-table side in the Western Conference.
Adrian Heath will be in charge of the club in the 2017 season and it has to be noted that the English tactician used to train the likes of Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa and Espanyol in the past. You should know that the club was founded on March 25, 2015.
