Our prediction for this MLS match:
All eyes will be on CenturyLink Field when Seattle Sounders and New York Red Bulls face each other in the MLS derby. Both teams are on the right track to book their place in the play-offs, but the season is quite long and they can’t afford any complacency in upcoming matches. Brian Schmetzer’s troops did well to beat LA Galaxy in their last home game, with Cristian Roldan scoring a brace.
Peru international Raul Ruidiaz, who returns from international duty, is likely to lead the line for the hosts. The Metros, on the other hand, failed to impress in back-to-back defeats to the likes of New York City and Colorado Rapids, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on Seattle, who aim to retain second position in the Western Conference.
Highlighted Player (Victor Rodriguez):
Victor Rodriguez is a professional player who began his senior career at Vilajuiga, playing 36 matches for the club and scoring 11 goals. After spending three years at Badalona the pacey winger joined Zaragoza and it has to be noted that he scored six goals in 72 appearances for the Estadio La Romareda outfit in La Liga.
On 7 August, 2014 Victor Rodriguez signed a three-year deal with Elche, but in August 2015 he was sent to Getafe on loan. Rodriguez scored two goals in 33 appearances for los Azulones in the 2015/2016 Primera Division campaign, but following Getafe’s relegation to Segunda Division, he signed a four-year deal with Sporting Gijon in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Victor Rodriguez has yet to make his Spain debut, but he played for Catalonia in a friendly game. The Sporting Gijon winger is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. Rodriguez was born in Barcelona on 23 July, 1989.
Highlighted Team (New York Red Bulls):
New York Red Bulls is the first club from New York City to join Major League Soccer. In 2006 the club was sold to Red Bull GmbH and, as a result, they are nicknamed the Red Bulls. New York welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena and the team’s home colors are white and red.
On the other hand, the Red Bulls wear dark blue shirts and yellow shorts on the road. In 2008 New York Red Bulls made it to the MLS Cup final, but they were not capable of matching Columbus Crew (1-3) in the Home Depot Center clash. A number of top-class footballers were part of the team in the past, but former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry is the synonym of the club.
Henry scored 51 goals in 122 league games for New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014 and it has to be noted that he scored his first MLS hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Montreal Impact on March 31, 2012. The likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Lothar Matthaus, Roberto Donadoni, Rafael Marquez, Juninho and Tim Cahill played for the club in the past as well.
