Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
There will be fireworks when Ajax and AZ Alkmaar square off against each other at Johan Cruijff Arena on Matchday 8. The Amsterdammers were on the verge of beating RKC at the weekend when Waalwijk goalkeeper suffered a horrifying injury, but, anyhow, the Dutch powerhouse managed to bounce back from a massive 4-0 loss to Feyenoord. Ajax aim to give fans yet another reason to celebrate and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at AZ. Midfielder Silvano Vos is back from the Europa League ban, while Sivert Mannsverk has yet to overcome a leg injury.
The visitors, on the other hand, aim to overtake PSV in top position in the standings, but beating Ajax in Amsterdam is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, we believe that punters from all four corners of the world can find value in betting on draw. Mees de Wit has yet to overcome a foot injury, with both Westerveld and Bazoer missing out as well.
Highlighted Player (Riechedly Bazoer):
Despite playing for PSV during his youth career, Riechedly Bazoer made his Eredivisie debut with Ajax. The central midfielder who was born on 12 October, 1996 in Utrecht, scored his first goal for Ajax on 15 February, 2015 in a 4-2 victory over Twente.
Four days later he made his European debut with the Amsterdammers, taking part in a 1-0 win over Legia in the Europa League. Bazoer scored five goals in 29 league appearances for Ajax in the 2015/2016 season, but he failed to win the domestic trophy with Frank de Boer’s troops.
Speaking of his international career, Bazoer has two caps for Netherlands U21 team and he made his debut for the first team on 13 November, 2015 against Wales. It has to be noted that he came as a late substitute in the 3-2 victory over the Dragons. Back in 2012 the right-footed midfielder won the UEFA U17 European Championship with the Dutch national team.
Highlighted Team (Ajax):
Ajax is a Dutch football club that was founded on 18 March, 1900. Ajax are well known for their youth academy, which regarded as one of the best youth football schools in the world. The likes of Johan Cruijff, Edwin van der Sar, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Rafael van der Vaart and Marco van Basten are all products of Ajax’s football academy. The Amsterdammers share a big rivalry with Feyenoord and there have always been fireworks when the two teams face each other in De Klassieker.
During the seventies Feyenoord and Ajax were the only two teams who were capable of winning the domestic trophies, while PSV have been playing an important role in Dutch football in the 21st century. PSV and Ajax are regarded as big rivals as well and the two teams square off against each other in De Topper. Ajax play their home games at Amsterdam ArenA, the stadium that was opened on 14 August, 1996. The Amsterdammers won their fourth European Cup (Champions League) trophy in 1995, beating Milan in the title game in Vienna.
