Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Following a routine 3-0 win over Heracles, Ajax will look to move one step closer to winning the Jupiler League trophy when they host Twente to their Johan Crujff Arena. The Amsterdammers are on the right track to defend their title, but they can’t afford any complacency in the remainder of the season. Goalkeeper Onana is back from international duty, while Ryan Gravenberch misses out through illness.
As always, Ivory Coast international Sebastien Haller will lead the line for the hosts. The Reds, on the other hand, are on a three-game winning run in the Eredivisie. Twente aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, but preventing Ajax from winning at Johan Cruijff Arena is easier said than done. Michal Sadilek is back from suspension, while Luca Everink misses out with injury for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Steven Berghuis):
Born in Apeldoorn, Netherlands on December 19, 1991, Steven Berghuis is a Dutch winger who plays for Ajax in the Eredivisie. Berghuis played for the likes of Vitesse/AGOVV, WSV Apeldoorn, and Go Ahead Eagles during his youth career before joining Twente in 2009.
The 183-cm-tall footballer continued playing for the Reds at senior level. After ending his loan spell with VVV-Venlo, Steven Berghuis joined AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2012, and three years later signed a deal with the Premier League club Watford. After making no more than nine appearances in the English top flight, Berghuis moved to Feyenoord in August 2016, and he has been playing De club aan de Maas ever since.
His main position is right winger, but he is capable of producing fine displays as both left winger and attacking midfielder as well. He made his Netherlands debut on May 27, 2016 in a 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland.
Highlighted Team (Twente):
Based in the city of Enschede, Twente is a Dutch football club that welcomes their rivals at De Grolsch Veste. The venue was opened on May 10, 1998, and the capacity of the stadium is 30,205 people. The club was founded in 1965 as a merger of Sportsclub Enschede and Enschedese Boys.
The Reds did remarkably well to win the Eredivisie title in the 2009/10 season, with the team finishing the process only one point clear of Dutch giants Ajax. As a result, Twente booked their place in the Champions League group stages. The Reds did well to collect six points in their group, but that did not help them make it to the last 16.
Twente are well known for their red jerseys, but they wear dark blue shirts when playing on the travels. The Reds take on Heracles Almelo in the Twentse Derby. Sander Boshchker is leading Twente’s all-time goal-scoring chart with 653 goals on his account.
