Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
All eyes will be on De Grolsch Veste when Twente and Ajax square off against each other in the Eredivisie derby. The Reds aim to keep their 100% record intact and they are surely capable of matching the out-of-sorts Amsterdammers in front of home fans. Experienced forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel is pushing for a start after sealing the victory at Volendam, while defender Mees Hilgers should miss out with injury.
Maurice Steijn’s men, on the other hand, have yet to find their best form in the new Eredivisie campaign. As Ajax failed to impress in a goalless draw with Fortuna Sittard before the international break, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Twente, who kicked off the new season in fashion. To make things even worse for the visiting team, Steven Bergwijn misses out with a knee injury, while Steven Berghuis has yet to serve his ban.
Highlighted Player (Davy Klaassen):
Davy Klaassen is a product of Ajax’s youth academy. He played for the Amsterdammers at youth level from 2004 to 2012 and he made his debut for the senior team against Olympique Lyon in the Champions League group stages. Klaassen was born on 22 February, 1993 in Hilversum, Netherlands and he plays as an attacking midfielder.
He is capable of playing as a secondary striker as well and it has to be noted that the Dutch footballer scored 13 goals in 31 league appearances for Ajax in the 2015/2016 Eredivisie campaign. Klaassen has four caps for Netherlands U21 team and he made his debut for the first team on 5 March, 2014 in a friendly against France.
The Dutch midfielder scored his first goal for the national team against Spain on 31 March, 2015 and, no doubt, that was one of the brightest moments of his career. The Ajax footballer won his third Eredivisie trophy with the Amsterdammers in the 2013/2014 campaign.
Highlighted Team (Twente):
Based in the city of Enschede, Twente is a Dutch football club that welcomes their rivals at De Grolsch Veste. The venue was opened on May 10, 1998, and the capacity of the stadium is 30,205 people. The club was founded in 1965 as a merger of Sportsclub Enschede and Enschedese Boys.
The Reds did remarkably well to win the Eredivisie title in the 2009/10 season, with the team finishing the process only one point clear of Dutch giants Ajax. As a result, Twente booked their place in the Champions League group stages. The Reds did well to collect six points in their group, but that did not help them make it to the last 16.
Twente are well known for their red jerseys, but they wear dark blue shirts when playing on the travels. The Reds take on Heracles Almelo in the Twentse Derby. Sander Boshchker is leading Twente’s all-time goal-scoring chart with 653 goals on his account.
