Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Twente and Heerenveen face each other at De Grolsch Veste in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Saturday’s program. Twente did well to hold Utrecht to a 1-1 draw before the international break, with the team retaining their spot in top seven. The Reds were in a fine form in December, and, it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to win the first game of the year. Midfielder Michal Sadilek is banned for the match as he was sent off in the draw with Utrecht.
Heerenveen, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Feyenoord, and seeing that the visitors will stick to their attacking style of play, over 2.5 goals betting option should be considered. In the first half of the season Twente defeated Heerenveen 3-2, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Erwin Mulder):
Erwin Mulder is an experienced Dutch footballer who plays for Heerenveen as a goalkeeper. Mulder spent his youth career at R.K.P.S.C, Vitesse Arnhem, and Feyenoord, and he continued playing for the Rotterdam club at senior level.
After making 120 appearances in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, the 193-cm-tall shot-stopper signed for Heerenveen as a free agent in the summer of 2015. It has to be noted, though, that Erwin Mulder was loaned to Excelsior during his spell with Feyenoord. His next stop was Swansea City where he made 29 league appearances before returning to Heerenveen in 2020.
Erwin Mulder was born in Pannerden on March 3, 1989, and he has three caps with the Netherlands U20 team. He has yet to earn a call-up with the Oranje senior team. The Heerenveen goalkeeper was named in the Netherlands Euro 2012 provisional squad, but after the training with the national team, he failed to make the cut.
Highlighted Team (Heerenveen):
Heerenveen is a Dutch football club that is well known for their white shirts with blue stripes. De Superfriezen (The Super Frisians) play home matches at Abe Lenstra Stadium, which has the capacity of 26,400 people.
Heerenveen have yet to win the Eredivisie title, but they impressed in the 1999/00 season, with the team finishing the process in second position in the standings. Thanks to a top-two finish, the club booked their place in the Champions League. Heerenveen, though, recorded only one in the group stages of the elite competition as they defeated Olympiakos 1-0 at home ground. De Superfizien retain a fierce rivals with Cambuur, and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
It has to be noted that Heerenveen won the Dutch Cup in the 2008/09 season, with the team beating Twente on penalties in the title game. New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech played for Heerenveen at the start of his senior career.
