Our prediction for this Norway Eliteserien match:
After suffering a 1-0 loss to Sarpsborg on Matchday 21, Valerenga will be aiming to put an end to their seven-game winless run in the Eliteserien when they host Viking at their Intility Arena. The Pride of Oslo just can’t find their best form and, as a result, they have been slipping down the standings week by week. Ronny Deila’s troops are low on confidence ahead of the visit of Viking and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing something from Sunday’s football game.
The Dark Blues, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Odd and they are likely to take advantage of the fact that Valerenga suffered a dip in form. In their last meeting in the Norwegian top flight the two teams played out a 1-1 draw, but we are tempted to put our money on Bjarne Bernsten’s charges this time out.
Highlighted Team (Viking):
Founded back in 1899, Viking are both one of the oldest and the most successful Norwegian teams. The dark blues won their eight domestic trophy in 1991, but they have not been as successful in the 21st century.
Viking won the Norwegian Cup on five occasions (1953, 1959, 1979, 1989, 2001) and knocking Chelsea out of the UEFA Cup during the 2002/2003 season is considered the team’s best achievement in European competitions.
