Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
After suffering an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Gil Vicente, Benfica will be aiming to return to winning ways in Primeira Liga when they take on Portimonense at Estadio Municipal de Portimao. The Eagles are determined to book their place in the Champions League, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the mid-table side. Since Almeida and Araujo should be the only absentees in the away team, punters can find value in betting on the capital club.
Portimonense, on the other hand, have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team eyeing their fourth consecutive win in the Portuguese elite division. Paulo Sergio’s charges, though, have little to play for in the season finale, and that is the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the Lisbon Eagles. Willyan has joined Lucas in Portimonense’s recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Lucas Possignolo ):
Lucas Possignolo is a Brazilian footballer who started his youth career at Sao Paulo, but he did not make his senior debut with the Tricolor. Possignolo moved to Portimonense on loan in 2014, and after scoring four goals in 57 appearances in the league, he signed a permanent deal with the Primeira Liga club in 2017.
The Brazilian defender made his debut in the Portuguese top flight on August 17, 2017, in a 2-1 home win over Boavista. Possignolo scored his first goal in the Primeira Liga in a 5-1 home defeat to Porto on February 25, 2018. His primary position at Portimonense is a centre-back, and his preferred foot is right.
Lucas Possignolo was born in Piracicaba, Brazil, on May 11, 1994. The 185-cm-tall defender, who wears the number 3 jersey at Portimonense, joined Sao Paulo at the age of 17.
Highlighted Team (Benfica):
Member of the ‘Big Three’ clubs in Portugal alongside FC Porto and CP Sporting, Sport Lisboa e Benfica are the football club that has never been relegated from the Primeira Liga. The club is nicknamed Aguias because of the Eagle symbol atop the club’s crest. Benfica play their home games at the Estadio da Luz which replaced the original one in 2003 and which boasts the capacity of more than 64,000. Arguably the most successful club in Portugal, Benfica have won a record of 35 Primeira Liga titles and also a record 25 Taca de Liga and 7 Taca da Liga trophies.
Two-time European Cup winners, Benfica are the club known for their diligent work with youth players, many of which went on to make great careers abroad. The most prominent players to wear a Benfica shirt are legendary Eusebio, Manuel Bento, Jorge Tavares and most recently Javier Saviola, Nuno Gomes, David Luiz and Angel Di Maria.
