Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Saturday’s football game at Estadio de Sao Miguel pits together Santa Clara and Ferreira, the two top-table sides. Santa Clara aim to make amends for back-to-back losses to the likes of Braga and Gil Vicente, and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against Ferreira. Os Castores quickly bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Sporting CP, with the team beating Vitoria Guimaraes at home.
Ferreira have already recorded three wins on the road in 2021, and they are surely capable of matching Santa Clara behind closed doors. A close encounter is on the horizon at Estadio de Sao Miguel, and we believe that punters can find value in betting on draw. It has to be noted that under 2.5 goals have been netted in four of Santa Clara’s previous five games in the Portuguese elite division. Both Carvalho and Villanueva are back from suspension for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Fabio Cardoso):
Fabio Cardoso is a Portuguese defender who was born in Agueda (Portugal) on April 19, 1994. Cardoso started his youth career at his hometown club Agueda, but in 2008 he continued his development at Benfica. After scoring three goals in 55 appearances for Benfica B, he spent the 2015/2016 season on loan at Pacos Ferreira.
In the summer of 2017, he signed a four-year deal with Vitoria Setubal, but he spent only one season at Estadio do Bonfim. Cardoso joined Scottish club Glasgow Rangers in June 2017, signing a three-year contract with the club for a fee of around £1.3 million.
The Portuguese defender, though, made no more than 12 appearances for the Gers, joining Santa Clara in the summer of 2018. Fabio Cardoso has four caps with the Portugal U20 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team. His primary position is a centre-back, but he is often used as a left-back. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Ferreira):
Founded on April 5, 1950, Pacos de Ferreira are a Portuguese football club who play their home games at Estadio da Mata Real. The venue can hold up to 9,077 people and it was opened in October 7, 1973. Os Castores are well known for their yellow shirts and green shorts, with the team wearing white and black kit when playing on the travels.
Pacos de Ferreira have yet to win the Primeira Liga trophy, but they did well to make it to the Taca de Portugal final in the 2008/2009 season. Os Castores faced Porto in the title game, with the Dragons attacker Lisandro Lopez scoring the only game of the match.
Two seasons later Pacos de Ferreira faced Benfica in the Taca da Liga final, with the Eagles lifting the trophy. Wolverhampton forward Diogo Jota is one of notable footballers who started their senior careers at Pacos de Ferreira.
