Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Estadio de Sao Miguel will host Wednesday’s Primeira Liga game between Santa Clara and Moreirense, the two teams who are almost level on points in the standings. Santa Clara aim to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Guimaraes where they had no more than one shot on target. Os Acoreanos have been impressive at home ground of late, and it is no wonder they are seen as favourites to win the midweek clash.
Moreirense, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-2 loss to Tondela, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Santa Clara’s party at Estadio de Sao Miguel. Romao should be the only absentee in the home team, while Amador, Lacerda, Mane, and Pedro are sidelined with injuries for the visiting side. Canada international Vitoria is banned for the game.
Highlighted Player (Fabio Cardoso):
Fabio Cardoso is a Portuguese defender who was born in Agueda (Portugal) on April 19, 1994. Cardoso started his youth career at his hometown club Agueda, but in 2008 he continued his development at Benfica. After scoring three goals in 55 appearances for Benfica B, he spent the 2015/2016 season on loan at Pacos Ferreira.
In the summer of 2017, he signed a four-year deal with Vitoria Setubal, but he spent only one season at Estadio do Bonfim. Cardoso joined Scottish club Glasgow Rangers in June 2017, signing a three-year contract with the club for a fee of around £1.3 million.
The Portuguese defender, though, made no more than 12 appearances for the Gers, joining Santa Clara in the summer of 2018. Fabio Cardoso has four caps with the Portugal U20 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team. His primary position is a centre-back, but he is often used as a left-back. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Moreirense):
Moreirense are a Portuguese football club based in Moreira de Conegos. Founded on November 1, 1938, Os verdes e brancos welcome their rivals at Parque Moreira de Conegos Guimaraes, the venue which can hold up to 9,000 spectators.
Moreirense wear green and white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst black and red are the dominant colours of their away kit. In the 2016/2017 season Os verdes e brancos did well to win the Taca da Liga trophy, with the team beating Braga 1-0 in the title game.
Caue scored the winner for Moreirense on the stroke of half time. Moreirense impressed in the 2018/2019 Primeira Liga season, finishing the process in sixth position in the standings. The club missed out on a place in the Europa League on goal difference to Vitoria de Guimaraes. Penafiel are considered one of the club’s main rivals.
