Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Sunday’s football game at Estadio de Sao Miguel pits together Santa Clara and Moreirense, the two teams who were beaten by Tondela (0-3) and Benfica (1-2) respectively in their season openers. Santa Clara experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the Estadio Joao Cardoso clash, but they are surely capable of matching Moreirense at home ground. Head coach Daniel Ramos should opt to make changes to the starting XI, with all Bouldini, Costinha, and Ricardinho pushing for a start.
Moreirense, on the other hand, failed to shock the ten-man Eagles in the opening match of the season. Experienced attacker Rafael Martins, who opened his goal-scoring account, should keep his place in the starting XI, while Walterson Silva is likely to miss the game though injury. Anyhow, both teams to score betting option should be considered as both sides are likely to go for a win in Saturday’s clash.
Highlighted Player (Fabio Cardoso):
Fabio Cardoso is a Portuguese defender who was born in Agueda (Portugal) on April 19, 1994. Cardoso started his youth career at his hometown club Agueda, but in 2008 he continued his development at Benfica. After scoring three goals in 55 appearances for Benfica B, he spent the 2015/2016 season on loan at Pacos Ferreira.
In the summer of 2017, he signed a four-year deal with Vitoria Setubal, but he spent only one season at Estadio do Bonfim. Cardoso joined Scottish club Glasgow Rangers in June 2017, signing a three-year contract with the club for a fee of around £1.3 million.
The Portuguese defender, though, made no more than 12 appearances for the Gers, joining Santa Clara in the summer of 2018. Fabio Cardoso has four caps with the Portugal U20 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team. His primary position is a centre-back, but he is often used as a left-back. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Moreirense):
Moreirense are a Portuguese football club based in Moreira de Conegos. Founded on November 1, 1938, Os verdes e brancos welcome their rivals at Parque Moreira de Conegos Guimaraes, the venue which can hold up to 9,000 spectators.
Moreirense wear green and white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst black and red are the dominant colours of their away kit. In the 2016/2017 season Os verdes e brancos did well to win the Taca da Liga trophy, with the team beating Braga 1-0 in the title game.
Caue scored the winner for Moreirense on the stroke of half time. Moreirense impressed in the 2018/2019 Primeira Liga season, finishing the process in sixth position in the standings. The club missed out on a place in the Europa League on goal difference to Vitoria de Guimaraes. Penafiel are considered one of the club’s main rivals.
