Fulham
Villa Park will host Sunday’s Premier League game between Aston Villa and Fulham. The Villans are desperate to record their first win of the season and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Cottagers. Unai Emery’s troops are still adapting following several summer departures and, no doubt, this game could turn their fortunes around in the national championship.
Summer recruit Jadon Sancho is pushing for a start, while midfielder Youri Tielemans will be assessed ahead of the kick-off. The capital club, on the other hand, defeated Brentford 3-1 in the London derby to climb to 8th place in the standings. Fulham, though, have been struggling on the travels in the early stages of the season, and we believe that the time has come for Aston Villa to get back on course. It has to be noted that Marco Silva has a full squad to choose from.

Argentine forward Raul Jimenez began his career within the youth ranks of Club America, a club he went on to play 102 matches in all competitions and score 39 goals for before his 2014 move to Atletico Madrid. Despite signing a six-year deal with La Liga outfit in a reported transfer fee worth €11 million, Raul Jimenez never really managed to get his foot on the ground with the Colchineros.
After only 21 games and one goal for Atletico Madrid, the Mexico international moved to Portugal after his collapsed loan move to West Ham. Raul Jimenez missed the flight to London after reportedly oversleeping, but various reports suggest that he was advised by his agent Jorge Mendes to choose Benfica instead.
Portuguese giants initially acquired 50% of the player’s economic rights, while the remaining share of Jimenez’s contract was purchased in the summer of 2016 for a fee believed to be around €12 million. During his maiden season with the Eagles Mexico international played 28 Primeira Liga games, contributing with five goals during the process.

Aston Villa is one of the three clubs that dropped to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. The Villans host their rivals at Villa Park, the stadium that was opened in 1897 and its’ capacity is 42,682. However, it has to be noted that the highest attendance recorded at the stadium was 76,588 when Aston Villa faced Derby County in the FA Cup back in 1946.
Aston Villa’s fiercest rivals are Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion. Nonetheless, the rivalry between Aston Villa and Wolves and Coventry City is big as well. Aston Villa have won seven First Division (Premier League) trophies, with the team clinching seven FA Cup trophies as well.
The team’s biggest success, though, came in 1982 when they won the European Cup. The Villans defeated Bayern Munich (1-0) in the title game and Peter Withe was named the man of the match.
