Our prediction for this Premier League match:
After sealing their spot in European competitions for the first time in the club’s history, Brighton will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on title holders Manchester City on Wednesday evening. The Seagulls are enjoying a season to remember, but they are seen as underdogs in the midweek clash. All Lallana, Lamptey, March, Sanchez, and Sarmiento are sidelined with injuries, while Webster is a major doubt.
The Citizens, on the other hand, defended their Premier League trophy in style and they must be high on confidence following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chelsea. Anyhow, both teams to score betting option should be considered as both sides will be with guards down in Wednesday’s clash. All Rodri, De Bruyne, Haaland, and Stones are pushing for a start, while Nathan Ake remains on the sidelines with a muscle problem, speaking of the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Ilkay Gundogan):
Ilkay Gundogan is a German footballer of Turkish origin who made a name for himself playing for Borussia Dortmund. The skilful midfielder began his professional career at VFL Bochum, but it was at Nurnberg that he was given the opportunity to prove his undoubted potential. He needed just two years to make Germany’s top clubs stand up and take notice and the Millionaires secured his signature for mere €4 million.
That would prove to be a great investment as Gundogan quickly slotted straight into the starting line-up and became a playmaker in the side led by Jurgen Klopp and later Thomas Tuchel. The midfield maestro kept being linked with clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona and Arsenal, but he resisted temptation to leave Borussia Dortmund, winning one Bundesliga trophy with the club and making it to the Champions League final.
Gundogan unfortunately missed the 2014 World Cup finals through injury, but there is still time for the BVB star to make things right and lift a major international trophy with Germany.
Highlighted Team (Brighton):
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club were formed in 1901. The Seagulls welcome their opponents at Falmer Stadium and the capacity of Brighton’s home ground is 30,750. The stadium was built in 2008 and it was opened in 2011. The venue is known for commercial purposes as American Express Community Stadium.
Brighton & Hove Albion compete in the Premier League and they play in blue and white stripes. The colour of Brighton’s away kit is green. The club made it to the FA Cup final in 1983, but English giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Red Devils.
Brighton’s main rivals are Crystal Palace and the Seagulls have recorded 35 wins over the Eagles. Frank Stapleton, Martin Chivers, Joe Corrigan, Bobby Zamora, Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Smith, John Crumplin and Frank Worthington are notable footballers who played for Brighton in the past. The Albion is Preston’s yet another nickname.
