Our prediction for this Premier League match:
All eyes will be on King Power Stadium when Leicester City and West Ham United face each other in the Premier League round 25. The Foxes are not enjoying a season to remember, with the team collecting only 26 points in total from possible 60. Brendan Rodgers’ men dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Brighton, and, no doubt, they are desperate to return to winning ways in the national championship.
All Iheanacho, Mendy, and Ndidi are back from international duty, while key attacker Jamie Vardy remains in the recovery room. The Hammers, on the other hand, climbed to the Champions League berth thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Watford. The capital club are determined to stay in top four, but beating Leicester on the road is easier said than done. Even though David Moyes has no fresh injury worries, we are tempted to put our money on draw.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (West Ham):
West Ham United are an English football club based in East London. The club was founded in 1895 and it has to be noted that the club’s name was Thames Ironworks back then. The Hammers were playing their home games at Upton Park from 1904 until 2016, when they moved to the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
West Ham have won three FA Cup trophies (1964, 1975 and 1980) and they were runners-up in 1923 and 2006. The capital club finished the 1985/1986 England first division campaign in third place in the standings and that is the club’s highest placing in the top flight. West Ham United have strong rivalries with fellow London clubs, but Tottenham Hotspur are considered the club’s main rivals.
A number of top-class players were part of West Ham in the past and the likes of Joe Cole, Carlos Tevez, Paolo Di Canio, Paul Ince, Julian Dicks, Shaka Hislop, Michael Carrick and Slaven Bilic are some of them.
