Our prediction for this Premier League match:
St. James’ Park will host Saturday’s football game between Newcastle United and Leicester City. The Magpies aim to recover from a 4-2 loss to Brentford and it seems as if they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Paraguay international Miguel Almiron is pushing for a start as well as right-back Kieran Trippier, while both Emil Krafth and Sven Botman remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The Foxes, on the other hand, head into the match following a 2-2 draw with Brighton. Leicester City, though, have been struggling on the travels and given Newcastle’s fine display in a 3-3 draw with Liverpool at St. James’ Park, home win should be considered. A man to watch in the away team will be top scorer Jamie Vardy, who is not getting any older, while midfielder Boubakary Soumare serves a one-game ban.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (Newcastle):
Newcastle United failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and, as a result, they dropped to the English second tier. The Magpies will host their rivals at their St. James’ Park in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign and it has to be noted that the capacity of the stadium is 52,354.
Newcastle United have won four domestic trophies (1904/1905, 1906/1907, 1908/1909, 1926/1927), while lifting six FA Cup titles (1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955) and a number of star players were part of the St. James’ Park outfit in the past.
David Ginola, Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Nolberto Solano, Gary Speed, Obafemi Martins and Kevin Nolan are notable footballers who are still remembered at the club. Newcastle’s fiercest rivals are Sunderland and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals face each other in the Tyne-Wear derby. The color of Newcastle’s home kit is black and white.
