Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Southampton will be aiming to make amends for back-to-back losses to Wolverhampton and Aston Villa when they take on Everton in the Premier League round 9. The Saints continue with their old habit of producing much better showings at home than on the travels, and, as a result, the bookies see them as favourites to win Saturday’s clash. Summer signing Joe Aribo should be recalled to the starting XI, while both Livramento and Lavia remain in the treatment room.
The Toffees, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against West Ham United, and they managed to get one thanks to Neal Maupay’s goal. Frank Lampard’s men have regained a much-needed confidence, which is probably the main reason why the share of spoils is on the horizon. As for the away team, all Patterson, Holgate, Mina Godfrey, and Townsend are out of contention through injuries. Venezuela striker Salomon Rondon is back from international duty.
Highlighted Player (Theo Walcott):
Theo James Walcott is an English football player with roots from Jamaica born on 16th of March 1989 in London. Walcott started his football career for AFC Newbury and after scoring over 100 goals in his first season Southampton signed the young Walcott. After 2 seasons playing for the Saints scoring 4 goals in 21games Arsenal transferred Walcott to London for approximately 12 million GBP where he signed a 1 million GBP per year contract by the age of 17.
Walcott is known for being a very fast right-winger but is able to play as a striker as well. Walcott can be used very effectively to set up a counter attack but is the type of offensive player that is very dependant on the rest of the team.
Despite his young age Walcott made his debut for the English national team in May 2006 and played for over 40 games in the national team already. One of Walcott’s biggest weaknesses are his height (only 173cm) and the fact he get’s injured very quickly. Walcott won the FA Cup in 2013/2014 and 2014/15 with Arsenal and the Community Shield in 2015. During the World Cup in 2014 Walcott was injured.
Highlighted Team (Everton):
Everton are one of the two Merseyside giants that were formed back in 1878, with the club holding a long-standing rivalry with Liverpool. Everton have participated in the English top flight for a record 113 seasons, with the team competing in the English second tier in just four campaigns.
The Toffees play their home matches at Goodison Park, the stadium that was opened in 1892. Everton have won the national championship nine times, with the team winning their last domestic trophy back in 1987.
The Toffees have clinched five FA Cup trophies as well and it has to be noted that a victory over Manchester United in the 1994/1995 FA Cup final helped the team win their last title in the prestigious competition. Everton and Liverpool face each other in the Merseyside derby and the clash between the two local rivals has been called the Merseyside derby since 1955.
In the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign Everton were hammered by Liverpool (0-4) at Anfield.
