Athletic Bilbao
There will be fireworks when Deportivo Alaves and Athletic Club face each other at Estadio Mendizorrotza in a small Basque derby. Alaves head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, but they need to start winning on a regular basis if they are to secure yet another elite division survival. Midfielder Pons Riera Pere should be the only absentee in the home team.
The Lions, on the other hand, kicked off 2022 with a brilliant 3-1 win at Osasuna, with the team keeping their Europa League hopes alive. Athletic Club are more of a team than Alaves, and seeing that several players have left the quarantine, we are tempted to put our money on Inaki Williams and Co. The opposition defenders should have Oihan Sancet at bay as he scored a hat-trick in the last league match.
Highlighted Player (Manu Garcia):
Manu Garcia is a product of Real Sociedad youth academy. The Spanish midfielder, who was born on 26 April, 1986, started playing for Real Sociedad B at the age of 19, making 101 appearances for the Basque outfit between 2005 and 2008. He scored 18 goals for Real Sociedad B and, as a result, Eibar chiefs decided to sign him in July, 2008. Manu Garcia spent the 2008/2009 season on loan at Real Union, scoring eight goals in 29 appearances for the club and in 2010 he joined Logrones.
Finally, in June 2012 he made probably the best decision of his career as he signed a contract with Segunda Division side Deportivo Alaves. Manu Garcia made 37 appearances for El Glorioso on his debut season and he quickly established himself as a first-team regular.
Garcia scored five goals for Alaves in the 2015/2016 Segunda Division campaign and, no doubt, he helped the team secure promotion to Primera Division. He has a contract with Alaves which expires on 30 June, 2018.

Athletic Club (mostly known as Athletic de Bilbao) is a Spanish football club from the Bask region which is playing currently in the Primera Division. The club from Bilbao is playing in the highest Spanish division since its founded in 1928 and is next to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for a longest period of time in the Primera Division. Athletic de Bilbao used to play until 2012 in the San Mames stadium (also known as La Catedral).

Athletic de Bilbao didn’t won any prizes in Europe yet but managed to be the runner up in 1977 and 2012 in the UEFA cup.
