Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Almeria and Girona face each other at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos in what is expected to be an interesting La Liga game. Almeria are desperate to secure yet another Primera Division survival, while Girona are surprisingly still in the Champions League race. As the Andalusians collected only one point in total from the last four league matches, home win should not be considered. To make things even worse for the relegation strugglers, all Marciano Sanca, Houboulang Mendes, and Iddrisu Baba are on international duty.
The Catalans, meanwhile, did well to beat Atletico Madrid 4-3 in a thriller, with the team eliminating Elche in the Copa del Rey at the weekend. Girona are more of a team than Almeria and we predict that the high-flying visitors are going to give fans yet another reason to celebrate on Sunday. The likes of Eric Garcia, David Lopez, Yangel Herrera, Ricard Artero, and Toni Villa should miss out with injuries, while Girona forward Viktor Tsygankov is a major doubt.
Highlighted Player (Christian Stuani):
Cristhian Stuani is considered one of the best Uruguay attackers. Stuani was born on 12 October, 1986 and he began his senior career at Danubio. He impressed with the Uruguayan outfit, scoring 23 goals in 36 appearances for the club and, as a result, he became a target for a number of top European clubs.
In 2008 he signed a contract with Reggina, but he failed to impress in 17 appearances for the Italian team. After spending the 2012/2013 season on loan at Espanyol, Christian Stuani signed a permanent deal with the Catalan side in 2013. Stuani scored 12 goals in 37 league appearances for Espanyol in the 2014/2015 Primera Division campaign, but at the end of the season he moved to Middlesbrough for a reported €3 million fee.
The 186-cm-tall striker made his Uruguay debut on 14 November, 2012 in a friendly win over Poland. Stuani also represented la Celeste at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
