Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys will host Tuesday’s La Liga game between Barcelona and Mallorca. Barca aim to build on a hard-fought 4-3 win over Celta where Raphinha sealed the triumph in the stoppage time and Hansi Flick’s men are seen as hot favourites to beat los Bermellones at home. Key player Lamine Yamal is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while top scorer Robert Lewandowski misses out with injury.
Mallorca, on the other hand, played out a slim goalless draw with Leganes at the weekend and, no, doubt, they would be happy with one point from Tuesday’s clash as well. However, home win should be considered as Mallorca’s recent record against Barcelona is negative. It has to be noted that the Catalans have emerged triumphant in 13 of the previous 14 meetings between the two sides. Both Pablo Maffeo and Daniel Rodriguez are banned for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Robert Lewandowski):
After scoring 36 goals in 59 league games for Znicz Pruskow, Robert Lewandowski joined Lech Poznan in June, 2008. The 184-cm-tall attacker scored 18 goals in 28 appearances for the club in the 2009/2010 Ekstraklasa campaign and during the season he was on Borussia Dortmund’s radar.
The Polish forward signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga side in June, 2010 and he quickly established himself as the team’s key attacker. Lewandowski was producing excellent performances with the Millionaires between 2010 and 2014 and it has to be noted that he won two Bundesliga trophies with the club (2010/2011, 2011/2012). He participated in the 2012/2013 Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, but the Millionaires were beaten by fellow Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in the title game.
However, he betrayed Borussia Dortmund fans in 2014 as he signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga giants. Lewandowski impressed in the 2016/2017 Bundesliga campaign as he scored 30 goals in 32 league games for Pep Guardiola’s troops. The Polish footballer represented his homeland at Euro 2016 in France and he scored one goal at the showpiece tournament in France.

Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
