Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Fans return to Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero on Saturday afternoon to help Elche footballers secure the La Liga survival. This has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts, and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against the Lions. Los Franjiverdes came from behind to beat Cadiz on the road in their last league match, but they need to produce yet another brilliant display against Athletic Club if they are to avoid relegation.
Considering that the Basques have nothing to play for in Saturday’s clash, we are tempted to put our money on the relegation strugglers this time out. Johan Mojica remains on the sidelines through injury for the hosts, while experienced midfielder Raul Garcia is banned for the visitors. Iker Munian remains in the recovery room, alongside Lekue, Capa, Berchiche, Nolaskoain, and Zarraga.
Highlighted Player (Victor Rodriguez):
Victor Rodriguez is a professional player who began his senior career at Vilajuiga, playing 36 matches for the club and scoring 11 goals. After spending three years at Badalona the pacey winger joined Zaragoza and it has to be noted that he scored six goals in 72 appearances for the Estadio La Romareda outfit in La Liga.
On 7 August, 2014 Victor Rodriguez signed a three-year deal with Elche, but in August 2015 he was sent to Getafe on loan. Rodriguez scored two goals in 33 appearances for los Azulones in the 2015/2016 Primera Division campaign, but following Getafe’s relegation to Segunda Division, he signed a four-year deal with Sporting Gijon in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Victor Rodriguez has yet to make his Spain debut, but he played for Catalonia in a friendly game. The Sporting Gijon winger is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. Rodriguez was born in Barcelona on 23 July, 1989.
Highlighted Team (Athletic Bilbao):
Athletic Club (mostly known as Athletic de Bilbao) is a Spanish football club from the Bask region which is playing currently in the Primera Division. The club from Bilbao is playing in the highest Spanish division since its founded in 1928 and is next to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for a longest period of time in the Primera Division. Athletic de Bilbao used to play until 2012 in the San Mames stadium (also known as La Catedral).
Since 2013 the club is playing in anew stadium. Athletic Bilbao is known for its rivalry with Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid was founded by Bask students in Madrid. The old relationship between both teams is visible in the red blue jerseys of both teams.
The second team Athletic de Bilbao is playing in the Segunda Division B in Spain. Athletic Bilbao won the Primera Division 8 times, the Copa del Rey 24 times, the Spanish super cup 2 times. Athletic de Bilbao didn’t won any prizes in Europe yet but managed to be the runner up in 1977 and 2012 in the UEFA cup.
