Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Espanyol and Almeria square off against each other at RCDE Stadium in what is expected to be an entertaining game. Los Periquitos were on the verge of beating Valencia at Mestalla in their last league match, but los Che eventually scored a late equalizer to grab one point. As a result, the Catalans failed to secure the La Liga survival and they have nothing to play for in Sunday’s clash. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team, but all Braithwaite, Pedrosa, and Vinicius Souza are pushing for a start.
The Andalusians, on the other hand, are eager to avoid relegation to Segunda Division and a win over Espanyol will see them meet the goal. However, beating the Catalan outfit in Barcelona is easier said than done and we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. Luis Suarez misses out through suspension, while both Martin Svidersky and Leo Baptistao are sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Benjamin Lecomte):
Benjamin Lecomte is a French goalkeeper who started playing football at the age of six. Lecomte was born in Paris on April 26, 1991 and in 1997 he joined Arcueil Municipal football academy. After spending eight years at the club he joined Antony Sports in 2006 and four years later he moved to Niort. Finally, he continued his footballing development at Lorient.
The 186-cm-tall shoot-stopper played 22 games Lorient B before making his first-team debut in October 2010 in a Coupe de la Ligue match against AS Monaco. In January 2011 Benjamin Lecomte signed a professional contract with les Merlus and it has to be noted that he made 119 appearance in the league for the club from 2010 to 2017.
In 2017 he moved to Montpellier, signing a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit. The Montpellier goalkeeper has 2 caps for France U20 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior team.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
